You will also be required to provide excellent pre-application advice to applicants, developers and architects.</p>\n<p>Ideally you will have experience of not only managing a casework of challenging planning applications, but have also been involved in negotiating s106 agreements and presenting at Committees.  Experience of hearings and public inquiry appeal work is also preferable.</p>\n<p>The Council receives a broad variety of proposals across the Borough, with wide ranging opportunities for development, along with many high-level constraints providing interesting challenges for decision making.</p>\n<p>Working for Tonbridge and Malling Council you’ll have easy access from London by train and have all that Kent can offer set in stunning countryside. Duties are to include, carrying out plan assessments for compliance with the Building Regulations, undertaking consultation with statutory bodies, issuing of decisions within statutory timescales, undertaking site inspections, completing suitable site inspection notes, assessing demolitions and dangerous structures as well as providing periodic out of hours cover on a rota basis.</p>\n<p>Applicants should have good communication skills as well as a high level of literacy and numeracy together with appropriate IT skills.  There is also a requirement for applicants to be committed to delivering a quality customer focused service in what is competitive environment. It is important that applicants have the ability to make clear and accurate decisions at short notice and under pressure.</p>\n<p>Applicants will ideally be a member of the CABE, RICS or CIOB. A current full UK driving licence and daily access to a car for business purposes are required, for which expenses and a car allowance will be paid.</p>\n<p><strong>Additional Benefits</strong></p>\n<p>We provide our inspectors a laptop, i-pad and mobile i-phone for the role.
