Ranked in the Sunday Times as one of the best places to live in the UK, and in Lonely Planet as one of the best places to visit in the world, Folkestone & Hythe is a dynamic and innovative place to live, work and visit.

Based in our offices in the heart of Folkestone, you’ll have easy access to transport links including HS1, Folkestone’s regenerated town centre, the seafront and old town creative quarter, and our extraordinary and vibrant landscapes and communities.

Recognised by Best Companies as an outstanding organisation to work for, we have a real focus on supporting career development, wellbeing and family friendly initiatives, and a hybrid agile working culture that enables flexible and remote/home working.

You can also expect an excellent benefits package that includes corporate membership, discount and salary sacrifice schemes, reimbursement of professional membership fees, up to 31 days holiday and Christmas closure, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, and much, much more.

The role

The role will require the development and delivery of a 3-year Economic Action Plan, interfacing with all key stakeholders to ensure buy-in and agreement of the prioritised projects. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Nuclear Regeneration Services (NRS) who are a key funder and partner within the Romney Marsh Partnership, and the Chair of the Romney Marsh Partnership.

The projects will require securing external funding and therefore experience in successful bid writing is advantageous but not essential as training will be provided.

The successful candidate will also be expected to write reports and provide other key information as required by the Chief Officer for Place and Growth at FHDC and produce timely reports to NRS as part of the funding requirements.

The role will be expected to be the key point of contact with the Nuclear Power Station at Dungeness, sitting on various forums helping and facilitating work relating to the New Nuclear industry. Experience in this area is an advantage but not critical.

We are looking for someone with qualifications in either Economic Development and Project management or, extensive experience in one or both of those areas. If you have business planning and/or inward investment experience this will also be an advantage to help deliver the key aspects of this role.

If your experience and qualifications align with the above, then we would welcome your application.

For an informal conversation about the role please contact Rod Lean (Chief Officer - Place & Growth) on 01303 853301 or 07523300413.
