Our Service plays a crucial role in supporting and delivering the Local Authority’s statutory duties and provision whilst promoting equal access to learning for all Deaf CYP. We are looking to appoint a highly experienced, committed and enthusiastic Qualified Teacher of Deaf (QToD) to join a developing team. If you are looking to making a positive impact on the lives of Deaf CYP, then this is the role for you.</span></p> <p><span><strong> </strong></span></p> <p><span><strong>What You’ll Be Doing</strong></span></p> <p><span>In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of specialist support to Deaf CYP aged 0 - 25 years and their families in homes, early years settings, mainstream and special schools and Post 16 provisions. You will assist in carrying out our statutory duties in respect of the identification, assessment and intervention for Deaf CYP and working in conjunction with the Audiology Technician and Adult Rehabilitation Service, ensuring appropriate support is available to CYP and their families.</span></p> <p><span>You will need to evidence an understanding of the importance of parental involvement in the education of Deaf. You will provide comprehensive, impartial information, taking into account families' cultural and social background, to empower families in making decisions about options available to them. Additionally you’ll have the relevant British Sign Language qualifications Level 2 or be <strong>willing to undertake training</strong> <strong>within the first year of post commencement.</strong></span></p> <p><span>As a highly experienced QToD you will have sound knowledge and understanding of current educational issues and legislation with particular reference to Deaf CYP and SEND.</span></p> <p><span>The role requires extensive experience of working and providing specialist support, as an advisory teacher across a variety of age ranges and settings to Deaf CYP. You will have British Sign Language qualifications (minimum Level 2) or be willing to undertake training and have knowledge in the use and maintenance of technology and resources.</span></p> <p><span>The role requires the ability to take lead responsibility for co-ordinating and developing networks, specialist projects and areas of work across educational settings and the local authority to promote good practice and understanding of Deaf CYP.</span></p> <p><span>The role requires the ability to use a range of ICT effectively and to organise and deliver INSET to a variety of audiences. The role as a QToD requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as contributing to the wider Special Educational Needs and Inclusion Service.
