The Children, Staff and Governors of Millbrook Community Primary School are seeking to appoint an inspirational and committed Headteacher to further develop our school rated as ‘good’ Ofsted (November 2024).  Following a long period of successful leadership, our current Headteacher will retire at the end of summer term 2025.  This is an exciting opportunity to build on the excellent foundations in place and continue to grow our school. Our pupils would like a Headteacher who is respectful, listens to them and organises enjoyable activities for the whole school. 

Millbrook Community Primary School is an inclusive, successful and expanding school. The school has an excellent reputation in the local area, and we foster a love of learning in a respectful and tolerant environment. We are situated in Kirkby Town and work within a family of local schools (The Kirkby Collaborative of Schools). Our curriculum celebrates the local area and is organised to meet our unique organisation of regular and mixed-age classes.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

•    Will put the children at the heart of everything they do, who is an excellent leader who creates a safe and supportive environment in which children strive to achieve their best and flourish emotionally, spiritually, academically and socially.
•    Will use their innovative and enthusiastic leadership qualities to support the strong teamwork of the school and ensure our dedicated staff continue to thrive and develop. 
•    Is an outstanding educator, passionate about teaching and learning and able to instil and nurture this in all children and staff.

•    Has the vision, enthusiasm and energy to work with all stakeholders to continue to grow the school’s profile within the local and wider community.
•    Will be a champion of the highest standards of safeguarding and promoting the positive health, and wellbeing of pupils & staff.
•    Is approachable and a team player, with the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels through excellent communication skills and can enthuse and involve the people around them, allowing them to reach their full potential.
•    Demonstrates resilience when adapting to an ever-changing educational landscape and drives forward school improvement in collaboration with all school leaders.
•    Demonstrates a good understanding of budgetary and financial management.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to take part in a variety of activities and to meet, in various contexts, with pupils, staff and governors over the two interview days. Shortlisted candidates will receive further information and details in advance of the interview days.
