Playworker - Playranger Service

Salary: £13.50 per hour inclusive of accrued holiday entitlement.
The Community Wellbeing team at Guildford Borough Council has an exciting opportunity available for an enthusiastic playworker to join our popular Playrangers service. The Playranger service is looking for highly motivated and organised individuals who are able to advocate for and demonstrate the value and importance of good quality, outdoor play for children in the borough.
The Playrangers team is involved with the day-to-day delivery of the Playrangers service, providing accessible and challenging outdoor play opportunities in local parks and open spaces across the borough. The Playranger sessions have an overall aim to encourage, support and widen accessibility to play opportunities for children within the borough; to play freely and enjoy the benefits of playing in the outdoors in their community. The primary age range of children for this service is five to twelve years old.
Day-to-Day Duties
You will arrive at the depot to pick up the Playrangers van and head to one of the six sites. You will need to unload the play equipment from the van. An element of manual handling is needed.
The session will include monitoring the children’s behaviour, safeguarding and encouraging children to play freely and together.
Working hours will be outdoors and involve the direct delivery of play opportunities to children and young people in all weather.
Additional Information
The successful applicant will be required to undertake essential training and will have access to a range of extra training opportunities related to the role.
This post requires an enhanced DBS disclosure for regulated activity working with children. Guildford Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Core hours between 3.00pm and 6.00pm ,Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on a rota basis, plus occasional weekend work available. Main delivery is school term time. There will be occasional work offered during the school holidays for events.
