Starting Salary: £41,511 progressing to £45,718 pa
Hours: 37 per week
Location: Based in Stevenage with hybrid working opportunities. Travel across the county will be required
Contract Type: Secondment only for 12 months with potential to extend

About the team

Hertfordshire County Council leads on Prevent delivery across the county to support partner agencies in meeting their Prevent duty. Prevent is a key safeguarding strategy which aims to support those who are at risk of supporting terrorism or becoming a terrorist and we strive to improve awareness, help those at risk and respond to the needs of the county.

About the role

In this operational frontline delivery role you can expect to be responsible for:

• Supporting county working and building relationships with internal and external partners including schools, police, probation and district councils
• Working closely and collaboratively with all Prevent leads in Hertfordshire to identify gaps and priorities.
• Working with partners in using Counter-Terrorism data and local assessments to build a regional risk picture to inform regional Prevent activities.
• Working with partner local authorities to share good practice, supporting them develop and update regional risk assessments and action plans.
• Developing and delivering training to partners and in community settings across the county where gaps have been identified.
• Developing a sustainable Prevent communications strategy that is bespoke to a range of audiences, both statutory and non-statutory.
• Engaging with local communities, institutions and priority groups across the county to consult, encourage a better understanding of Prevent, and engage them in relevant Prevent activity.
• Developing an awareness of, and relationships with, local community and voluntary organisations, and institutions across the region.
• Support the development of project bids as a county and with local authorities, and coordinate the delivery of these projects
• Support with wider regional projects

About you

Essential

• Experience in Programme delivery and management
• Experience in delivering training
• Experience working with young people
• Demonstrable understanding of Prevent and/or involvement with delivery or managing of the Prevent duty within organisations
• Experience in community engagement or working in the voluntary sector
• Ability to build strong working relationships with statutory partners
• Strong IT skills
• Ability to travel across the county to deliver services

Desirable

• Experience in bid writing
• An understanding of the wider Counter-Terrorism Strategy (CONTEST)
