Tower Hamlets - The Best of London in one borough!

•      Tower Hamlets is truly unique, offering some of the very best of London, packed into one dynamically diverse borough.

•      Tower Hamlets is moving forward, boldly proving that Tower Hamlets epitomises our capital’s rich past, it's exciting future and the energy that drives it all forward.

•      Rooted in layers of history, stretching back almost 1,000 years, Tower Hamlets is today a youthful, ambitious and vibrant place.

We are seeking to recruit dedicated and committed social workers to take up posts within our Locality Teams.

Do you want to have a hugely positive impact on adults and their carers in our communities? Your role will involve working with adults aged 18 years and upwards, promoting wellbeing and supporting people to achieve the outcomes that are important in their life. You will probably work on cases that will change your assumptions, change your outlook and even change the way that you practise.

As an experienced social worker, you will manage a varied caseload, carrying out assessments focusing on the strengths of the person, their families, carers and local communities to promote independence. You will be committed to working in a strength based, outcome focused way and to making a difference to the lives of the individuals and families which you work with. Candidates must have post qualification experience along with a good knowledge of relevant legislation and local authority responsibilities in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.

We offer quality supervision, peer support and a range of opportunities to develop your practice, with a clear framework for career development and our benefits package is on par with some of the best in London.

We are proud of our values because they demonstrate how we work and interact with customers, partners, and colleagues on a day-to-day basis.

We have five core values, which are central to successfully achieving our vision:

  • Together - We work TOGETHER across boundaries and with partners to achieve the best outcomes for Tower Hamlets
  • Open and honest - We are OPEN and transparent
  • Willing - We are WILLING to challenge, innovate and be accountable
  • Excellence - We empower each other to be EXCELLENT and go the extra mile
  • Respect - We RESPECT all communities, they are the heart of everything we do

We will be using a values-based model of recruitment to ensure that all candidates share our vision and values. This will help us to get to know you better as a person!

Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.

Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.

We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.

To apply for this position you must have a Social Work qualification and preferably with experience of working in a community-based setting.
