The team works across the county providing enabling therapy interventions to adults over 18. The purpose of these interventions is to meet meaningful and person centred goals around activities of daily living To help people become more independent and work towards their enablement goals. This may include a variety of interventions for example, developing or recovering every day skills, learning new techniques or working on increasing confidence with activities of daily living or by provision of equipment.<br><br><b>About the role</b><br><br>We are a well-established team, and we are excited to have the opportunity to add this new role to the team. We are looking for 3 occupational therapy assistants to work alongside our Occupational Therapist to support people with their enablement goals. Assistants will also provide therapy interventions independently under guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. You will need to liaise regularly with the qualified therapist regarding therapy interventions and progress. You will report back on progress or negative changes to the person's ability to undertake the session. You will assist in home visits under direction of qualified OT, provide and review appropriate equipment and complete relevant documentation. You will need to be able to provide and receiving complex information which requires empathy and reassurance, communicating where there may be barriers to understanding. You must be able to maintain accurate and timely records of interventions as direct by the OT.<br><br><b>About you</b><br><br><strong>Essential:</strong><br><br> <strong>1) Communication Skills</strong> -effective communication with the people you will be working with their families and health and social care teams. This includes explaining therapy interventions, listening to concerns and documenting progress clearly.<br><br><strong>2) Compassion and Patience - </strong>Working with individuals who may be facing physical, emotional or cognitive challenges requires empathy understand and the ability to maintain patience during slow progress.<br><br><strong>3) Team work and collaboration - </strong>working closely with the occupational therapist, other social care and health professionals and carers.<br><br><strong>4) Record keeping - </strong>Maintain accurate and timely records of interventions, using a variety of IT platforms.<br><br><strong>5) Organisational Skills </strong>- including time management are required to manage multiple therapy interventions and prioritise your daily schedule to meet team needs.<br><br><strong>Desirable:</strong><br><br> <strong>1) Problem solving ability -</strong>Critical thinking to adapt therapy interventions to meet each person's unique needs.<br><br><strong>2) Knowledge of medical conditions - </strong>understanding of various conditions that affect people we work with enabling better tailored therapy plans.<br><br><strong>3) Active listening -</strong>paying close attention to feedback and concerns to tailor therapy effectively.<br><br><strong>4) Functional assessor - </strong>to assess functional needs and determine appropriate equipment improve independence and mobility.<br><br><strong>5) Motivational Skills -</strong> encouraging and inspiring people to stay committed to their therapy process.<br><br><strong>6) Adaptability - </strong>people's needs, and progress can vary, and plans may need to change very quickly.
