Due to the nature of our people-focused, varied work, it can be challenging, but also very rewarding.  </p><p>Some activities you will be involved with include:  </p><ul>\n<li>Providing excellent customer service to all library users </li>\n<li>Helping customers access a vast range of library materials  </li>\n<li>Delivering activities for children & young people </li>\n<li>Signposting to Council and community services  </li>\n<li>Supporting people without access to computer facilities  </li>\n<li>Working with groups across the city </li>\n<li>Engaging with refugees  </li>\n</ul><p>All our posts involve occasional lone working in one of our 11 community libraries and so we are looking for self-motivated people who are confident to work on their own. We are also looking for flexibility as Library Officer’s sometimes have to work at different libraries at short notice.  </p><p>We care about our staff, providing a continuous programme of management and peer led support. Likewise, we have a track record of offering opportunities for career progression both within libraries and throughout the wider Council. Library Officers have previously moved into library management positions, as well as being involved in exciting projects across the service.  </p><p>Previous experience working within a library environment is not essential. A thorough induction programme covering library services, library stock and IT systems, lone working and customer service is provided for all new starters.
