What is the role?
In this role you will play a significant part in the efficient delivery of a wide range of planning application types with opportunities to progress to more complex schemes as your experience grows.
You will have a good knowledge of planning related legislation. You will be a strong team player who can contribute positively to the team and be able to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in making recommendations on a wide range of planning matters.
We also welcome candidates with no prior experience of planning that are motivated and willing to learn. The trainee role is career graded to enable progress to Planning Officer level. Applicants who wish to study to do an undergraduate or post-graduate planning degree will be provided with on-the-job training, and subject to any budgetary restrictions, be sponsored to undertake the appropriate University course or Apprenticeship scheme, including day release.
We have also introduced an incentivised pay scheme which may provide opportunities to earn additional income through working on pre-application enquiries as overtime. This position also currently attracts a market supplement of £3,000 a year which is paid in 12 monthly instalments. This is due to be reviewed in Spring 2025.
The successful candidates must be driven, enthusiastic and reliable.
Applicants must have a driving licence which is valid in the UK and use of a vehicle.
