Join us and contribute to making a positive impact on our community.<br><br><strong>The Role</strong><br> <br>We are seeking a dedicated and experienced NEC Site Supervisor/Highways Supervisor to join the Projects & Property team to support the delivery of a multimillion-pound highways infrastructure project.<br><br>The role of NEC Supervisor is that of an inspector who tests and inspects the works and materials for compliance with the contract and manages the defects process to protect the council's interests.<br><br>The post holder will work collaboratively with the Project Team and the Design & Build contractor to ensure the construction of Banwell bypass is delivered to the highest quality and safety standards; whilst providing efficient, sustainable, and best value solutions in line with industry best practice and innovation.<br><br>As an NEC Supervisor you will:<ul> <li>Have a daily presence on site</li> <li>Attend regular meetings with the Project Team and the D&B contractor to manage progress and project risk</li> <li>Have the foresight to enable early identification of potential issues and to contribute to their prevention/ resolution</li> <li>View and ensure the works are delivered in compliance with construction phase documents such as: specification, CPP, RAMS, ITP and Scope</li> <li>Issue regular supervisor reports recording the progress of works and highlighting any issues or defects identified</li> <li>Support the NEC4 ECC Project Manager with review of Clause 32 Programmes, Early Warnings and Compensation Events</li> </ul><br> <br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br> <br><ul> <li>Identifying and managing the defect process and issuing of relevant defects notifications .</li> <li>Monitoring and audit of the Contractor's environmental compliance for the project and ensuring all identified actions are closed out within their timescales;</li> <li>Monitoring and audit of the Contractor's control of quality, safety and the environment</li> <li>Carrying out inspections and liaising with the NSC Highways Laboratory to arrange testing as required</li> <li>Monitoring and recording site activity including materials, labour and plant employed on site through regular site visits and inspections to confirm work is carried out in accordance with the Programme of Works and to assist the NEC PM in managing the contract;</li> <li>Identifying, recording and notifying of any defects;</li> <li>You will work as part of the Banwell Bypass project team, taking direction from the Senior Project Manager and the NEC Project Manager;</li> <li>You will produce comprehensive weekly site reports, coordinating input from other team members and the Contractor as required.</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure all quality (ITP's , Benchmarks) assessments are visible to demonstrate that performance is measured and managed.</li> <li>Monitor all works activities to ensure they meet the Works Specification and are being delivered in a safe manner</li> <li>Work closely and collaboratively with the Clients NEC PM and QS to assist in evaluation of compensation events, payment applications, Early Warnings and Programmes</li> <li>Attend client Projects meetings to provide them with a delivery update and manage all issues.</li> <li>Provide Monthly Quality Management report to contribute to NEC PM Report</li> </ul><br> <br><strong>About You</strong><br> <br>We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting in the delivery of major infrastructure projects and who possesses the following skills and experience:<br> <br><ul> <li> Relevant highways experience and a good understanding of construction methods </li> <li> Knowledge of the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works </li> <li> Understanding of Traffic Management Standards and Permit Schemes </li> <li> Working knowledge of NEC contracts and ECC Supervisor requirements </li> <li> Proven understanding of CDM and Health and Safety </li> <li> Good general IT skills are essential </li> <li> The ability to develop excellent relationships with a variety of stakeholders from internal and external colleagues to contacts across the wider project </li> <li> Excellent communication skills </li> <li> CEMAR Contract Management Software experience is desirable </li> </ul> <br> <br><strong>Essential Criteria:</strong><ul> <li>A degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification</li> <li>Full UK driving licence</li> </ul><br> <br><strong>Desirable Criteria:</strong><ul> <li>NEC4 Accreditation</li> <li>Construction Skills Certification Scheme card (CSCS)</li> <li>Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme certification</li> </ul><br> <br><strong>What We Offer</strong><br> <br>At North Somerset Council, we value our employees and provide a supportive and inclusive work environment.<br><br>We offer:<ul> <li>Competitive salary and benefits</li> <li>Flexible working arrangements</li> <li>Opportunities for professional development</li> <li>Staff groups</li> <li>Opportunity to purchase up to an additional 10 days annual leave each year</li> <li>Dedicated Wellbeing Team</li> <li>Salary sacrifice cycle to work and Electric vehicle schemes</li> </ul><br> <br>Further details of our excellent rewards package can be found in our <strong>Benefits booklet</strong> .<br><br><strong>How to Apply</strong><br> <br>If you share our <strong>vision and values</strong> and are ready to make an impact to North Somerset, please select the apply button below.
