Contract Type: Full-Time, 37 Hours per week.

Fixed Term: Until October 31st 2025.

Hastings Borough Council is seeking 2 dedicated and dynamic Resettlement Employability Officers to join our Refugee Resettlement Programme.

This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of refugees and migrants by supporting them on their journey to employment, self-sufficiency, and integration into the local community.

About the Role:

Since 2015, the council has been working as part of the national Syrian Resettlement Programme to resettle vulnerable people displaced by the conflict in Syria.

100 refugees have been resettled in Hastings and the project is continuing to support them to integrate within the local community and become fully self-sufficient.

As a Resettlement Employability Officer, you will work collaboratively with a range of partners across the statutory and voluntary sectors to deliver the Resettlement Employability Program (REP). The program focuses on helping disadvantaged individuals, including refugees from Ukraine, Syria, and other regions, overcome barriers to employment, develop skills, and access opportunities for work or self-employment.

You will provide one-to-one support, create tailored action plans, and offer coaching to help individuals find sustainable employment. You will also engage with local businesses, community organisations, and education providers to ensure the program’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored advice and guidance on employment and education opportunities to socially excluded groups.
  • Develop action plans and offer ongoing coaching to support individuals in achieving their employment goals.
  • Work closely with partners and stakeholders to promote the program and create opportunities for participants.
  • Organise and support networking and job-related events for the scheme’s participants.
  • Identify and address any challenges that may affect the successful delivery of the project.

About You:

We are looking for someone with:

  • A relevant qualification or experience working with disadvantaged groups in employment or community settings.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting vulnerable people.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in partnership working within the statutory and voluntary sectors.

Knowledge of Arabic, Ukrainian, or Kurmanji is desirable but not essential.

Why Join Us?

This is your chance to be part of a vital project that directly impacts the lives of refugees and contributes to the local economy.

If you are passionate about supporting vulnerable communities and making a real difference, we would love to hear from you!
